Montgat Korman Vilares Open Source Lab

🌊💻A Small Space for Big Ideas

At Korman Vilares Resort, we are preparing a new space for people who enjoy creating, learning, experimenting and sharing knowledge.

A room of just 3 m² is being transformed into a small technology lab: two workstations, computers, monitors, keyboards, Internet access and everything needed for two people to sit down and build something together.

And right beside them, a window overlooking nature and the Mediterranean Sea.

🐧 Open Source, Linux & Collaboration

The idea is simple: provide a place where friends, developers, Linux enthusiasts, sysadmins, makers, creators and digital nomads can spend a weekend or a few days sharing knowledge and working together on projects.

We are not trying to build a huge coworking space.

We want to create a small and friendly technology meeting point where two people can sit in front of a Linux terminal and simply ask:

“What can we build today?”

Projects and experiments may include:

  • GNU/Linux and Free Software
  • Web development
  • Node.js, Python and automation
  • Servers and networking
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Multimedia projects
  • Streaming and content creation
  • System administration
  • Technology prototypes and experiments
  • Open Source project development and maintenance

🧑‍💻 Digital Nomads Welcome

Korman Vilares Resort offers rooms for weekend and weekly stays, creating an opportunity to combine two worlds that are often kept apart:

rest and creation.

Wake up overlooking the Mediterranean, take a walk by the sea, enjoy the surrounding nature and then return to the house, open your laptop or sit at one of our workstations and continue building your project.

No huge offices.

No complicated structures.

A desk, an Internet connection, Linux, coffee, nature and the desire to create.

🤝 Community & Crowdfunding

The Open Source Lab itself is also being created with a collaborative philosophy.

Our goal is to gradually expand it through crowdfunding, contributions, reused hardware and collaboration between friends and members of the Open Source community.

A monitor somebody no longer needs.

An old computer that can become a Linux server.

A keyboard.

Hardware for experimentation.

Programming time.

Documentation.

Knowledge.

Every contribution can become part of the lab.

Because Open Source is not only about publishing source code.

It is also about sharing knowledge, infrastructure, experience and time.

⚙️ Supported by Korman Digital Entertainment Media Solutions

Projects created during these stays can benefit from the infrastructure, experience and technical support of Korman Digital Entertainment Media Solutions.

The goal is to help people experiment, develop, deploy and maintain collaborative digital projects.

An idea created during a weekend at Vilares does not necessarily have to end when everyone goes home.

It can become the beginning of a real Open Source project.

🌱 Technology Surrounded by Nature

We believe you do not need to be inside a huge corporate office to create interesting technology.

Sometimes all you need is a small room, two computers, two people exchanging ideas and a window overlooking the Mediterranean.

Welcome to the Korman Vilares Open Source Lab.

Come. Stay. Share. Create.
